Parking

During the week, please find lots of metered bays on Great King Street, just round the corner from the gallery - restrictions are in place until 5.30pm (After that, park in the bays for free or on single yellow lines for free).
From the bays, it's a 5 minute walk to the gallery.
For loading/unloading, you can stop on Dundas Street outside the front door, with the vehicle hazard lights on.
Unrestricted parking outside the gallery for disabled badge users.

During weekends, you can park on the single yellow lines right outside the gallery for free, or around the corner on Great King Street either in the parking bays or on single yellow lines, for free.

Our location

-
We are lucky to have Edinburgh Waverley rail station close by. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the station to the gallery, or about 5 minutes by car.
-
From Haymarket station, take any of the buses running in to Princes Street and get off at the National Gallery stop; we are a 15 minute walk from the National Gallery building (directly North - down Hanover Street then Dundas Street)
-
Lothian Buses No. 23 and 27 regularly come up and down Dundas Street - there is a southward bus stop across the road (heading towards city centre) and a northward bus stop (from city centre) 2 minutes walk away.
-
Edinburgh airport is about 40 minutes drive from the gallery.

Dogs and guide dog
All dogs are welcome at the gallery. We have dog bowls with fresh water available for dogs outside on request.

Wheelchair users
Dundas Street is a hill, and as such we have steps into our gallery space from the pavement.
There are 2 stone steps onto the paved courtyard area outside the front door, approx 5 meters walk to the front door, and then 4 steps down into the gallery inside the front door.
We have the original old fashioned double doors, so access is tricky for wheelchairs - however, there is a grab-rail on both sides of these internal steps, and we can carry down the wheelchair if you can manage the steps.

We are happy to help customers access the gallery – please ring in advance if you need assistance.
-
The doorway measures 109cms.
-
The gallery rooms are all on one level.
-
The main gallery rooms are lit by bright overhead lights.
-
Baby buggies are permitted in the gallery. Please note we do not have any baby change facilities.
Public toilets
We do not have publicly available toilets. There are free public toilets within Waverley Station, St James Shopping Mall, and St Andrews Square Bus Station (about 20 minutes walk away) plus numerous coffee shops nearby which will all have facilities for their customers.

We are a small business with lovely staff who are here to help our customers and ensure that your visit to the gallery is enjoyable.
